“The most important customer is the one who can’t speak for themself.”
— Daniel Phillips, Funeral Director
Fulton’s Funeral Playing Cards are a meditation on memory, mourning, and presentation. Designed by Brad Fulton, the deck draws inspiration from vintage funeral homes, southern cemeteries, and early Art Deco aesthetics—where restraint, symbolism, and permanence mattered.
The black-stroked edges reference Victorian mourning stationery, while the overall design favors quiet authority over ornament. The jokers feature All Is Vanity by Charles Allan Gilbert, a classic optical illusion that reflects on perception, mortality, and the human condition.
Printed by the United States Playing Card Company and limited to 700 decks, this is a deck intended to last—both physically and conceptually.
A considered object, from the mind of Fulton.
